Dolly-Parton
Dolly Parton, who was born in Locust Ridge Tenn. on Jan. 19. 1946 to a low-income family, with twelve kids eventually included, discovered early that she was able to escape the hardships of her life by using a vivid imagination. Prior to learning how to write and read Dolly Parton was composing her own songs. In 8 years, she had her very first guitar. At age 11, she began to sing at Knoxville Tenn's local radio station. Gold Band Records is a tiny, independent label. While in high school, she made herself known to the school community but her goals were bigger. The day after she graduated in 1964 she moved to Nashville. Dumb Blonde was her first single to reach the top of the charts at the top of Monument Records. Porter Wagoner's syndicated tv show required the services of a new singer by this point. Parton was signed to RCA Records and then joined the Grand Ole Opry. She accepted her job in 1967. She quit Wagoner's act in 1974 after her own hits like Joshua Coat of Many Colors and Jolene beat out the collaborations. Parton, after the split of their partnership with Wagoner she wrote the song"I Will Never Love You and made it to No. 1. for the first time since 1974.
